The Wellspring site is located in Madison County Illinois, approximately four miles northwest of Edwardsville and a few miles due east of the City of Wood River. The construction of Interstate 255 and the new county Highway 19 / Moreland Road connecting 143 to 140 makes this 175 acre site easily accessible from multiple directions.
New construction for Edwardsville has historically been to the south of town. The boundaries have pushed far enough out that now more developers are considering areas north of Edwardsville. New highway access theoretically makes the "phase 1" property attractive to residents working in Missouri, as travel times are now in the 30 minute range.
The property will be annexed by the City of Wood River, and lies in the Edwardsville School District.
The western edge borders Wood River's Belk Park, which contains a popular public golf course and recreational facilities. The eastern and western ends of the section contain moderate to deep ravines, while the center portion is gently rolling. The east side of the site is bordered by Moreland Road, and the southern edge and half of the western edge of the site are bordered by Rock Hill Road.
